Pitt Rivers Museum

Last weekend on a visit to Oxford I discovered the Pitt Rivers Museum – and what a find! It is an Aladdin’s cave of treasures from around the world.

I came across some wonderful costumes

and weaving looms.

This Hawaiian made cloak has been made from the feathers of humming birds.

And this 19th century sewing box is similar to one that I saw in the St Fagan’s Museum, Cardiff earlier this year.

There is so much to view and time was limited so a return visit soon I hope to spend more time awestruck in the museum but also tied in with a visit to see the replica of the Bayeaux tapestry in the Reading Museum.
