We had a great turnout at our sewing session 26 October with 18 people attending to help sew panels for the Cowbridge Commemorative quilt.
And we were thrilled that family members were able to take part in the sewing. The panel dedicated to David Morgan John who died on 21 April 1941 aged 20 was sewn by family members – his sister Elizabeth Austin, his nephew Michael Austin and nieces Christine Mallett and Wendy Carter.
Mr Colwyn Jones a senior partner with Watts and Morgan was sewing the panel for David Roy Watts who died 2 May 1941 aged 24. His wife Pamela Jones embroidered the panel for George Thomas Joseph Pratt who died 20 October 1944 aged 23, as they know his family.
Andrew Davies AM gave his support by calling in to meet our stithcers and Janice Charles, Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan spent the afternoon chatting to our stitchers and her consort for the day Mary Tornabene who is Vice Presidnet of the Barry & District Soroptomists contributed by sewing a panel.
We are so grateful to everyone who attended both sewing sessions (13 and 26 October) and pleased to report that we only have 4 panels out of 59 left to sew! Well done and THANK YOU!!!
