Today we met to carry on with the construction of the Cowbridge Commemorative Quilt. A few adjustments were needed after considering the layout….

We took the central panel out and dropped it so that it was level with the two long panels to allow the wreath and poppies to sit neatly in the centre at the top of the quilt.

And, we added a narrow piece of sashing at the bottom so that we could position Tom Clarke’s panel centrally …. a poignant moment when we realised that it was 4 years ago today that Tom died.

Below this panel will be the text that puts the quilt into context for the viewer – which Isobelle has now finalised after trying out a few different text sizes.

So, next time we will be able to add the text and construct the wreath.

A special thank you today to:

Jan for doing the sewing and cutting – which everyone else bottled out of!
Chris for making the poppies ready for applique
…….and to Corinne, Isobelle, Liz and Monica for their words of wisdom!
