Stitched Pictures and Ice Dyeing

Over the last week I have been busy exploring new techniques.

On Wednesday I attended and Alison Moger workshop which was focused around stitched pictures using fabric scraps and free machine stitching. And these are the results of my days sewing…

A very enjoyable day and I will certainly continue experimenting to create more pictures.

And, if the above wasn’t enough in one week yesterday a friend and I got together to do some ice dyeing – a very simple technique that gives some very pleasing results. The pieces below were created with magenta and lemon coloured procion dye on cotton fabric

Initially I was unsure about the results on this piece of silk – which was at the bottom of the tub – but on closer inspection the subtle colours are quite pleasing.

These two pieces were created by using turquoise and violet procion dye…

A brilliant way to spend a morning and I certainly intend to do some more!
