Deborah O’Hare Workshop

Today, I went to a workshop run by Textile Artist Deborah O’Hare. It was focused on using recycled material to make a book wrap. It is a great way to use all sorts of materials such as spare bits of wool, sweet wrappers, old jeans, paper, ribbons and threads. This is my creation – which is work in progress

I used part of an old pair of jeans for the background. The birds are made from silver lame to which I fused sweet wrappers. The cord is wool secured into place by multi glitter thread. The whole piece is covered with black voile and secured in place by sewing around the birds and leaf shapes. Very sparkly! Just needs a bit of bead work to further enhance it I think.
